DescriptionThis circular inlay piece of polychrome faience is a rosette/flower design with 8 inlaid inner petals of white with a raised central yellow circle. The main component may originally have been glazed a gray-blue color, as suggested by a small area of worn glaze remaining near one edge. It is in worn, slightly battered and chipped condition.
ProvenanceFromTell el-Yahudiya, palace of Ramesses III. 1887-88: excavated by William Flinders Petrie for the Egypt Exploration Fund; assigned to the Egypt Exploration Fund in the division of finds by the Egyptian government; awarded to the MFA through subscription to the Egypt Exploration Fund. (Accession Date: January 1, 1888)
