DescriptionThe tankard rests on three ball feet molded as pomegranates with leaves extending above to the smooth side of the tankard. The vessel has a flat base, straight sides and a slightly domed cover that is attached the handle with a large knuckle hinge and thumbpiece composed of two intertwined pomegranates. On the interior of the tankard is vertical line of six cylindrical pegs. The handle is ear shaped, with a reverse curve near the S shaped terminus; it is D-shaped in section. The body of the tankard and the cover are raised. The feet and thumb-piece are cast in two pieces and applied. The handle is fabricated. The surface of the tankard has been restored to remove engraving or chasing. The handle and the thumbpiece have been reattached.
