DescriptionMarble relief, signed and dated on back "1461 OPVS BARTOLOMEVS BELANI" The date is likely a later addition.
ProvenanceSaid to come from Venice [see note 1]. By 1889, private collection, Italy [see note 2]. About 1896, sold by Stefano Bardini (dealer; b. 1836 - d. 1922), Florence, to Quincy Adams Shaw (b. 1825 - d. 1908), Boston [see note 3]; 1917, gift of Quincy Adams Shaw, through Quincy Adams Shaw Jr., and Mrs. Marian Shaw Haughton, to the MFA. (Accession Date: March 29, 1917)
