DescriptionThe thrown jug is pear-shaped and stands on a shaped foot ring. The handle is S-shaped, and the gently curved spout has a heart-shaped opening. The cover is domed and has a broad rim and round finial; it is pierced through. The body of the jug and the cover are painted with a lime-green ground. There are two white quatrefoil reserves on both body and cover, which are painted in blue, iron-red, yellow, green, and black in the Kakiemon style. On the body one reserve has two Japanese children holding fans, the other a single seated child, also holding a fan, both between flowering plants. The reserves on the cover are similarly painted, and the finial is painted with a star motif in iron-red. The handle, apparently warped in the firing, is decorated with indianische Blumen and gold, as is the spout. The foot ring, the inner rim of the cover, the scrolls on the handle, and the edges of the spout are gilded.
