DescriptionA dress in two parts of heavy silk striped black and purple, the purple stripes having a fancy weave and a pattern of widely spaced small medallions, the black stripes haveing a minute all-over figure and widely spaced medallions; (a) bodice, high round neck, buttoned down center front, long sleeves, trimmed at shoulder seam and wrist with ruched silk ribbon (one purple?) with black velvet ribbon run through it, lined with white glazd cotton; (b) skirt came to the Museum with waistband removed and ungathered; it has been put together as a very full skirt with fullness gathered evenly all around into a waistband, bottom of skirt faced very dark brown glazed cotton. Worn by Sarah Edridge (Mrs. Rev. Warren) Goddard (1811-1899) of Brockton.
