DescriptionOne of a pair (with 33.82).The stepped, octagonal, gadrooned base supports a tapering spool form surmounted by an octagonal, gadrooned flange. The bases are formed from raised, chased sheet, rising to a plain spool-shaped midsection with an applied wire rim around the edge. The stem, in the form of a fluted column, rises from the knop. It is formed from seamed, chased sheet. The nozzles, made from chased sheet, are in the form of capitals and are surmounted by attached octagonal waxpans with a circle of gardooning.

On corners under each base, maker's mark Sy (Grimwade 2673); lion's head erased; Britannia; date letter c.
InscriptionsARMORIALS: engraved on each base, the crest and motto of of Hazlerigg or Hesilrige, poss. for Sir Thomas Hesilrige, 4th Baronet, of Noseley Hall, co. Leicester (1664-1700); an unidentified crest and motto (a demiwoman nude; MOTTO: Vivat solum post funera virtu).
