DescriptionThe shallow rounded bowl rests on a straight foot with a flared rim. The two tapering handles are rectangular in section. The body of the bowl is engraved with square panels alternately plain or filled with a stylized flower. An engraved horizontal band divides the center of the bowl. The body of the vessel is raised; the foot is seamed and formed. The handles are constructed of several joined pieces of sheet. The decoration is engraved.
Marks On rim, maker's mark WL a crown above a mullet below (Jackson, 1921, p. 499; rev. ed. 1989, p. 543); Edinburgh town mark; deacon's mark of Alexander Reid.
