DescriptionThe oval stand has four scrolled legs and foliate feet. The stand is chased and cast in an openwork design of leaves, flowers, scrolls, and two goat's heads. Four arms of coiling foliage support four shallow dishes of scroll and leaf pattern. Surmounting the stand is a pierced, boat-shaped basket with cast and chased scrolls and foliage.
Marks On the side of stand between branches, on underside of center dish, and on bezels of each small dish, date letter u; lion passant; maker's mark EW in monogram (Grimwade 656); leopard's head crowned.
InscriptionsARMORIALS: engraved in the well of the central dish, and in each smaller dish,the crest of Bouverie beneath a viscount's coronet, for Sir Jacob des Bouverie, third Baronet, of Longford, Wiltshire, (1694-1761).
INSCRIPTIONS: engraved on underside of central dish, 142=10.
