DescriptionThe vase-shaped body, raised in two sections, rests on a spreading circular foot, with a string of beading applied to the edge, around the shoulder, and along the rim. Bands of bright-cut and wrigglework patterns outline the foot, shoulder and rim. The hinged, shaped and domed lid is raised and has an urn-shaped finial. The wooden handle is mounted on cast sockets decorated with applied beadings and leaf-form drops.

On side of foot, sovereign's head; date letter l; leopard's head crowned; lion passant (repeated on inside of cover); maker's mark IS (repeated on inside of cover).
InscriptionsARMORIALS: engraved on the side, the arms and crest of Allen.
