DescriptionThe dish is circular with the sides divided into twenty fluted panels; each panel terminates in a scroll, creating a flaring, scalloped rim. There is a plain circular foot rim. On the outside of the dish, the panels are alternately ornamented with female heads surmounted by lion's masks and pendents of flowers and fruit against a matted ground. Around the inside rim the scrolls are chased with shell motifs. The dish was raised from heavy sheet. The alternating motifs of female heads and flowers beneath a scroll were cast and applied. The chased shells on the interior of the rim obscure the join at the rim of the bowl.
