DescriptionThe chafing dish has straight pierced sides and rests on three shaped cast feet. The pierced panel forming the main section of the dish is formed of raised sheet, joined to a heavy cast gadrooned border and flaring cast rim at the base. Hinged to either side are double-scroll handles with wooden baluster insets, each formed of two pieces of silver, cast and seamed. The cylindrical, flat-bottomed lamp is raised and supported by an openwork frame that rests inside the cylinder of the stand. The frame is assembled from shaped strips of flat sheet. The lamp has a detachable flat cover with a molded rim and tubes for three wicks. These appear to replace an original single opening for a wick, which has been plunged at the center of the cover.
