Description(The Hague: Th. v. Hoytema, 1892) 33.9 cm; [31 ff., unbound, printed rectos only]; original publisher's portfolio, half black cloth, gray paper boards, color lithograph mounted upper cover.
Limited deluxe edition of this title, with the lithographed illustrations printed individually on buff paper leaves, which were then mounted on larger cards and enclosed in a portfolio, the front cover of which contains a lithographed title printed in brown, blue, and gold. The 31 illustrations are printed in black, and several are further high-lighted with hand coloring. The standard edition was bound with the illustrations printed on both sides of the leaves.
There is a small label mounted on the verso of the front cover, indicating that the text is after an "old legend," which had appeared in "Mosroosjes," a child's lesson book published by J. B. Wolters, Groningen.
