DescriptionBody of violin type. Back of maple, belly of pine; both are very highly arched. Two f-holes. Finger-board and tail-piece inlaid with walnut and bone checkered patterns. Neck and peg-box of maple; peg-box is bored for eight pegs, end with small violin-type scroll. Two sets of strings: (1) four playing strings of gut; (2) four sympathetic strings of thin steel wire passing under the finger-board through clearance space in the neck. Movable bridge with two vertical notched brass pieces, permitting the change of tension of sympathetic strings. Bass-bar and sound-post.
