DescriptionKnight, Death, and the Devil is one of three Dürer engravings traditionally known as the master engravings (along with Melancholia I and St. Jerome in His Study, also on view). The rider is believed to be a representation of the virtuous, steadfast Christian knight whom Death and the Devil are unable to distract or waylay.
