One of the most striking aspects of this work is its large scale and bold contrast between the dark, foreboding perimeter and expressive, layered interior. But look closely at the subtle use of tone and texture to discover elements you might not see at first glance.

The title of this work memorializes the brutal assault and murder of a young woman, Kimberly Rae Harbour, that occurred in Franklin Field near a housing complex in Dorchester in 1990. Rothschild has dedicated decades of her work as a painter and a writer to foregrounding aspects of women’s lives often forgotten or deliberately ignored, inside and outside of the art world. Her act of bearing witness to this event is a form of care.
