DescriptionThe plain pear-shaped pot has an elongated neck and a short flaring spout decorated with fluting, beading, and a shell. The body is formed from sheet, seamed behind the handle, with an inset base. The ear-shaped handle is mounted directly to the body of the pot and is covered with stitched leather. The high domed cover, raised from sheet, has gadrooned rim and a flame-shaped finial. The plain circular foot of the pot fits into a high stand resting on three splayed, scrolled feet. The rim of the stand, cast from several pieces, is gadrooned, with a pierced apron composed of scrolls and shells. The braces for the legs are soldered to an inverted pear-shaped heater, with detachable cover. Set with 33.175.1

On underside of jug and underside of lamp, maker's mark CW (Grimwade 3511); leopard's head crowned; date letter n; lion passant (repeated on bezel of cover).
