DescriptionBronze lamp with hook for suspension, there is an acanthus leaf at the back to serve as a flame guard. A griffin's head is on the hanging shaft. The form suggests that it is an import from Egypt or the Mediterranean. A Meroitic inscription on the back was added after the lamp reached Nubia. The original rusted iron hanging rod has been replaced.
