DescriptionA male, nude except for a cloak fastened on his right shoulder, mounted on a horse. His right arm is raised as if to hold a spear; likely there was one originally. He may be participating in a hunt. The fitting underneath the horse's belly suggests that the horseman once topped a pin.
Provenance1960s, sold by George Zacos (dealer; b. 1911 - d. 1983), Basel, to Robert E. Hecht (b. 1919 - d. 2012), Paris [see note]; 2004, year-end gift of Robert and Elizabeth Hecht to the MFA. (Accession Date: February 23, 2005)

NOTE: First lent to the MFA April 14, 1995.
