DescriptionKnife cover (tantô bukuro) with design of Myriad Treasures (takaramono) associated with the Seven Gods of Good Luck (shichifukujin) in purple, green, blue and white silk and gilt paper strip discontinuous supplementary patterning wefts on a reddish-orange silk satin ground; The cover is made from a length of fabric folded over and stitched on three sides, has a single loop carrier along one side and is lined with pink plain-weave silk.

NOTES:
[1] Much of Bigelow's collection of Asian art was formed during his residence in Japan between 1882 and 1889, although he also made acquisitions in Europe and the United States. Bigelow deposited many of these objects at the MFA in 1890 before donating them to the Museum's collection at later dates.
