DescriptionRichly colored palmettes, brightened with silver brocading, dominate this border fragment of a now-lost carpet, which probably had a crimson field filled with vegetation, birds, and scrolling vines.
Warp, silk; weft, silk; pile, wool; 81 Persian (Sehna) knots to a square centimeter. The ground of the main border is dark green; that of the guard band is light blue and light red.
