DescriptionWarp of linen, two parallel bands of tapestry of plum-colored wool; woven into a piece of natural-colored linen fabric; brown woolen threads sewed in, called by Miss Edwards "a 'laundress' mark." Discovered in 1888 by W.F.M. Petrie in the Greco-Egyptian cemetery of Hawara in the Fayum. Burials in this cemetery were from 400 B.C.-150 A.D. "Amelia B. Edwards". Some of the wool in the bands and the linen on one side have rotted out. Stains and holes.
