DescriptionGround of black wool; narrow stripe of dark blue through the middle. On each side are broad red borders with a design of red crosses outlined with black. Red tassles on the corners.
ProvenanceBetween about 1885 and 1898, probably acquired by John Ware Willard (b. 1859 - d. 1914), Brookline, MA [see note]; 1912, gift of John Ware Willard to the MFA. (Accession Date: November 7, 1912)

NOTE: Willard worked as a mining engineer in California (voter registers show him in Calaveras County) and the American Southwest between 1885 and 1898.
