DescriptionRed wool ground. Throughout the center is a guilloche design of red, blue, and green. On each side are groups of graduated blue, green and white blocks. On each end are zig-zag bands of white, green, and blue. On the corners are tassels of red wool.
ProvenanceBetween about 1885 and 1898, probably acquired by John Ware Willard (b. 1859 - d. 1914), Brookline, MA [see note]; 1912, gift of John Ware Willard to the MFA. (Accession Date: November 7, 1912)
NOTE: Willard worked as a mining engineer in California (voter registers show him in Calaveras County) and the American Southwest between 1885 and 1898.
