DescriptionDesign shows Byzantine influence. Warp of linen; ground of natural colored linen; with design of dark purple, red, green, and light blue wool. The design consists of a square tapestry panel with a central circle showing a warrior holding a sword towards a captive? A circle is in each of the four corners. Each of the two circles in the lower half contains a floating winged putto, the one on the lower right carries a basket and that on the left carries a bird. Part of the figure of the putto on the upper right is damaged. A basket with flowers, from which stem branches that form the four circles is in each side of the square. The design of 96.341b is the upper left corner of the square panel showing a basket with flowers. The circle on the upper left (96.341b) shows a standing figure surrounded by vine fruits and leaves.
