[2] The painting was lent to the Exhibition of Dutch and Flemish masters of the 16th and 17th centuries (Municipal Art Gallery, Middlesborough, September 28 – October 22, 1949), cat. no. 36, by Marie Leonie Francoise van Haaren (Mrs. Robert Alfred) Constantine (b. 1897 – d. 1993) and her sons, Herbert Norman Constantine (b. 1920 – d. 2015) and Joseph Constantine (b. 1928 - . d. 1997). Her husband, Robert Alfred Constantine (b. 1885 – d. 1969) purchased at least one other painting from Duits, Ltd., in 1948.
