Nancy Selvage received a BA in Art History from Wellesley College and an MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University. She held a long tenure as director of the influential Harvard Ceramics Center, just over the River Charles where generations of Harvard students and artists have experimented in clay. This work joins a tranche of studio craft teapots acquired in 2020 and demonstrates an innovative and playful approach to this primary formal experiment within the functional canon of ceramics.
Provenance1980s, sold by the artist to Ann Gabhart, Jamaica Plains, MA; 2023, gift of Ann Gabhart to the MFA. (Accession Date: June 21, 2023)
