Look closely and you might see similarities between the angle of the fence posts and the upraised arms. Fortune describes these photographs as a “love letter” to his home and heritage, using a documentary approach as a tool of remembrance and respect. In doing so, he depicts his subjects not as anthropological specimens but tenderly, as living, breathing people. By approaching his artistic practice through the lens of love and adoration, his photographs become ways to witness community and collective healing.
