DescriptionTranslation of lyrics from Japanese, by Kuniko and Kendall Brown:
"A brave man from the country of the rising sun
Now going to the front;
Flags are flapping, blood is stirring
Shouts of joy and bugle calls.
Without victory there is no return
To see again the country of one’s parents;
Without glory there are no decorating flowers
Scattered bodies will not return home.
Sacred mountains Fuji and Chichibu
Look out over the waves of soldier’s shoulders;
Marching in step like the ocean
Already engulfing the enemy troops.
The fighting man and bird in the sky
Where the plane will meet its fate;
We implore our brothers of the sky
Japanese swords control the earth.
Japanese spirit loads guns
Opens fire on the shadow of enemies;
Evil disappears like clouds or mist
The Emperor’s army shines brightly."
