DescriptionTranslation of lyrics from Japanese, by Kuniko and Kendall Brown:
“Flowers of Yamato, Japanese women
From antiquity they bloom beautifully
For those born in the new reign too
Women’s hearts don’t change color!
When you look up the sky is high
When you gaze o’er the soil the land is rich
With gods’ blessings a spirit of eternal youth
Women of the nation Japan, women.
We shall learn the true wisdom
Now we shall know the true spirit
Strive after virtue, the Honored Violet Song*
Follow such modesty, follow.
Train, train, train your body
Render service to the country, render
Like the gallantry of cherry trees
The heart is pure, the body is light.
Sing, sing, sing a melody
Sing along with the musical notes
Joyful melody, blessed music
Japanese women, young women!
Train your morals, look to the light
As if forgetting the cares of the world
We will study and work diligently
For eternity never shall we forget this."
