This clay form sprouts leaves from its centrifugal stem like blades from a dynamic propeller or petals on a blooming flower. Paul Briggs created each of the vessels in this series from a single ball of clay that he pinched and molded with his hands and a small number of hand tools. A former pastor, Briggs has five degrees that span art, philosophy, and education and is a committed teacher whose art making is characterized by a deep exploration of clay, his primary material.
