Untitled is a striking painting that resembles a city view of a map, but one with no clear orientation or order, instead just a tangle of numbers and colors atop an uneven grid. Its looseness and automatic quality are highly representative of Greenbaum’s paintings often which use several kinds of paint and painting techniques in a single image. The black lined bounds of the central drawing recall Greenbaum’s sculptures which she has began making in the last decade as another way to explore abstracted visual language.
