DescriptionWarp of linen, weft of wool; ground of red wool and design of green, red, yellow, and dark blue wool and natural-colored linen. Design shows a female bust inside a central medallion flanked by two affronted female figures each riding a sea creature. The female figure on the right holds a mirror (?), which is an attribute of Aphrodoite. Two pairs of animals, each flanking a tree motif are above and below the nereids. The border encloses red floral motifs with green branches. Pasted onto a piece of linen. Importation 204.
