DescriptionTapestry band woven into a piece of a looped linen weaving; ground is in red wool and the designs are in natural-colored linen; red, blue and yellow wool. The design consists of a jeweled medallion that encloses a putto holding a basket. The areas flanking the medallion show lotus-like flowers on stylized trees on both sides of a narrow band with stylized leaves. The border encloses linear wavecrest motifs. Design shows Byzantine influence; probably a sleeve band.
