DescriptionMedallion made of more than one piece. On a red ground is a large crowned human figure carrying (?) a figure on a throne; two haloed human figures flank the crowned figure. The border encloses lotus-like motifs on both sides of a scrolling branch. The warp is natural-colored linen and the design is woven with red, green, yellow, pink and brown wool and natural colored-linen. The style and the colors are similar to those used in the group of Coptic tapestries that represent scenes from the story of the Patriarch Joseph. Similar to 15.699. The scene may represent Christ and the Virgin Mary.
