DescriptionChair seat of cotton and linen twill (fustian) embroidered with wool (crewelwork) in low hills at bottom in green, yellow, and blue bands with leaves and strawberries, small blue bird on right standing on area of horizontal green lines with three small plants, tree with swirled fruit and pointed leaves, multicolored bird on flowering stump at center, three small trees on right, large flowering branch on upper right with rose and pink, two butterflies at top left; most of design in New England laid stitch or Roumanian couching with small areas and thinner lines in satin stitch, possibly fishbone stitch in three small plants on lower left; made to go with 19.67 and 19.596-610; cotton weft is vertical and linen warp is horizontal because textile was rotated 90 degrees before embroidering
