DescriptionViolet gray satin ground, the design of birds and scrolls with inscriptions, dogs in pointed ovals and flowers, is woven with Cyprian gold (thread wound with gilded gold beater's skin) and light blue and deep pink silk. Very like a piece from a church in the Diocese of Lüttick, Belgium, but with the design reversed. "Italian-Arabic, 14th century."
