SAN GABRIEL MISSION ALTAR rests beneath six statues brought individually from Spain in the 1790's - 20 years after the Mission's founding. The statue of the Blessed Virgin was a gift of the King and Queen of Spain. Present Mission church was dedicated early in the 19th century and there has been no cessation of religious services these 150 years.
