DescriptionChair seat of cotton and linen twill (fustian) embroidered with wool (crewelwork) in low hills at bottom in green, yellow, and blue with plants and strawberries, blades of grass across top, two stag and a blue squirrel, and oak tree at center and fruiting tree at right with white squirrel; floating mound with two trees on left; two butterflies at top; most of design in New England laid stitch or Roumanian couching; some small areas of satin stitch found on the fruit, butterflies, squirrels, leaves, strawberries, and deer horns; outline or stem stitch on thinner lines, such as butterfly antennae, squirrel tails, grids on acorn caps, and blades of grass; made to go with 19.67 and 19.596-610; cotton weft is vertical and linen warp is horizontal because textile was rotated 90 degrees before embroidering
