DescriptionFragment of pinkish red silk with repeat of 12-lobed circular medallions woven with white silk and gold thread (yellow silk wound with golded skin) enclosing interlacing star form, surrounded by curving arabesques, both woven with gold. Above and below: narrow band of red with running animals woven with green; part of 2 borders with calligraphic designs woven with gold thread -- one on blue, one on black silk ground.
ProvenanceProbably acquired in Spain by Adolfo Loewi, Venice; 1926, sold by Loewi to the MFA for $580. (Accession Date: December 2, 1926)
