Provided with a helicopter deck, the THOMASON is equipped to handle small Anti-Submarine Warfare Helicopters. Originally built as a general purpose destroyer of the Sumner class by Bethlehem Steel, San Francisco, Calif. Commissioned October 11, 1945.
