THEODORE ROOSEVELT 25th President of the United States. Born October 27, 1858. "Teddy" Roosevelt, Harvard Graduate, was early interested in ranching, politics and in writing picturesque historical narratives. In 1898, he resigned from politics to help organize a volunteer regiment called the "Rough Riders." Reluctantly accepting the Vice-Presidency in 1900, he became President after McKinley's assassination September 14, 1901, serving 2 terms of office. He died at Oyster Bay, January 6, 1919, at the age of 61.
