ULYSSES S. GRANT, eighteenth President of the U. S. Served two terms - from March 4, 1869 to March 3, 1873 and from March 4, 1873 to March 3, 1877.


ULYSSES S. GRANT was born at Point Pleasant, Ohio on April 29, 1822, but was elected President from Illinois. He was the nominee of the Republican party and on his first election received 214 electoral votes, while he was chosen for the second term by 292 electoral votes - up to that time the largest number ever cast for a President. He died July 23, 1885.
