DescriptionFine white linen with an all-over repeated pattern worked in back-stitch with cream colored silk in an all-over repeated pattern of long foliated leaves and conventionalized flowers. Around the edge is sewed a broad border of linen worked in chain-stitch and back-stitch with yellow, and a little red and pale blue silk. Design: standing plants, lilies, tulips, roses, etc., and at intervals bunches of flowers tied with bunches of ribbon, with narrow conventionalized floral border above and below. The embroidery is all yellow except for blue and red in ribbon bows, and outline on one tulip plant. Band of irregular back-stitching at top and bottom of cover. Worn and stained, particularly center. Lined with three different designs, woven on draw-looms with linen warp and cotton weft.
