DescriptionManuscript of the Astasahasrika Prajnaparamita; five Illustrated folios, a page with colophon and two wooden covers in brass encasings. Folios on yellow paper; covers slightly cracked and damaged; brass encasings worn and smeared with sandalpaste. The covers have painted decoration on the outer surfaces, which is now virtually illegible. On the inner surfaces are images of a king and queen encountering deities and of seven seated Buddhas.
Illustrated folios depict the birth and first footsteps of the Buddha, an image of the Buddha seated and receiving homage from Hindu deities, a wrathful deity, and other topics.
