DescriptionHat; black silk plush, with black feather trim at center back. Tall crown with gathered sides and indentation along top edge. Wide brim, upturned in center back. Center back of crown is trimmed with black feathers. Feathers are arranged in two fan shaped groups and extend upward from brim. Black silk lining. Sarah Moore Field collection, from North Andover. Sarah Moore Field lived alone for almost fifty years while her collection grew. She wanted her house to become a historic landmark open to the public but, that was not possible so her belongings were donated to various museums.
