DescriptionBedcover; white cotton with blue wool crewel embroidery, twill. Center seam joins two panels. Hemmed top; fringe on three sides. Central motif consists of a large basket with a floral vine in the center surrounded by several borders. At the top of the basket and flower medallion are two butterflies; on the bottom is a sprig a leafy vine. Encircling the central motif is a small vining border which includes a motif that resembles seed pods. This border is followed by a large floral vine of rosettes and bell shaped flowers. The outermost border is a swag that stops a quarter of the way in on the top edge. Two selvage width panels are stitched together vertically to from the bedcover; the top and bottom edges are turned under and hemmed. A knotted fringe is stitched to the side and bottom edges.Good condition overall, the ground fabric appears to be in very good physical condition. Conserved at stillwater textile conservation studio.
