DescriptionRibbon fragment in compound weave of white silk warp with white, blue, orange, black and yellow silk weft, showing portrait of King Edward VII of England. Below the black and white head and shoulders study of King Edward in full dress and with many medals is a large British flag in red, gold, blue. The British coat of arms with lions and a unicorn and motto at center, flanked by pictures of Windsor Castle and the Houses of Parliament. Registry number "rd. 370718" woven at the bottom of the picture. "Dieu et mon Driot" is in the center. From Coventry, England, maker W.H. Grant & Co. Compound weave, 2 selvage edges, 2 raw. W.H. Grant & Co history, William Henry Grant. 1941 plant destroyed by bombs, 1945 formed into limited liability company, 1961 March J. & J. Cash Ltd. took over. He was the main competitor to Thomas Stevens.
