DescriptionHuman effigy mask with open mouth. Suspension holes are drilled through the mask, one on each side of the forehead and one on each side below the ear. The eye orbits originally were inlaid with shell and/or stone to represent the pupils and whites of the eyes, the orbits now containing only the dark yellow discolored remnants of the ancient glue and/or iron pyrite inlays. The mask's front surface has extensive amounts of abrasion and pecking, especially around the eyes. An unusual, large, curvilinear cut is carved into the center of the forehead.
