DescriptionThe spoon has an elliptical bowl and a tapering hexagonal stem. The finial depicts Saint Bartholomew holding a book in his right hand and a knife in his left. On the top of the nimbus is a dove on a stippled ground. The bowl and stem of the spoon are forged from a single piece. The finial and nimbus are cast separately and applied. There are traces of gilding on the finial.
Marks In bowl, leopard's head crowned; on back of stem near bowl, maker's mark WC three pellets above and a rose between pellets below in a plain shield (Kent, 1981, p. 31); lion passant; date letter C
