DescriptionThe spoon has a fig-shaped bowl and an hexagonal stem. The finial depicts Saint James the Greater holding a book in his left hand and a pilgrim's staff in his right hand. The bowl and stem of the spoon are forged from a single piece. The finial and nimbus are cast separately and applied. The staff is broken above the saint's hand. There are traces of pricked initials, now illegible, on the back of the bowl near the join with the stern.
